We decided to head to Pismo Beach on Saturday. Considering Cody wasn't going to have much time off we took advantage of his last day off. He has already been trained in the hospitals system, had orientation, received his 2 UCSF long white coats and today officially he started his Surgical ICU rotation. Cody has only been to the Pacific ocean once in his life, a long time ago. Talmage has never seen an ocean at all, so this was the perfect activity for us to go do. It was cold (66 degree weather with very strong winds, and water temperatures were at least 45 to 50 degrees easily). The cold did not stop us from enjoying our time though. In fact, it was one of the best days we've had since moving out here. It was a beautiful place, relaxing and really fun. The best part was we had no agenda.
Tal jumped right in, we initially thought we wouldn't get in our swimsuits because it was too cold, but after we were all numb it really wasn't that bad. Tal was getting soaked in his clothes anyways so we all put on our suits and jumped in. Okay, I went up to my thighs is all, but the boys went all the way under. Hypothermia set in and yet they were both still smiling. Talmage started walking around like Frankenstein, because he couldn't bend his limbs he was so cold, but he was still laughing and happy. We watched the wind and wave surfers do their thing, horse back riders gallop on the beach, we popped seaweed bubbles with our toes, looked at shells and of course ran in and out of the waves a million times. Hours later we finally dried off and warmed up and headed to the pier.
It was perfect weather when we were in dry clothes and not jumping in ice water. It was a lot of fun walking around the pier, checking out little shops, watching people eat chocolate covered scorpions, finding extravagant sand castles on the beach, chasing the pigeons and seagulls, finding holes to look through in the wood planks, watching the sun go down and when we couldn't wait any longer, found a little hole in the wall restaurant, with authentic mexican food to eat at for dinner. It was absolutely amazing food. Comparable to Cafe Sabor. It was a great day.

ReplyDeleteOh and our friends who grew up here told us we need to go to Pismo Beach! My daughter would love it.
